“What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. It is the difference we have made to the lives of others.” — Nelson Mandela

About us

Born from a birthday, grown into a family.

Okah’s Helping Hands is a humanitarian organisation born in the heart of the Covid pandemic. On 3 May 2020, founder Sandra Okah turned her birthday into a fundraiser among friends. What began as a single gesture has grown into an organisation supporting families across Cameroon.

Our aim is to improve the standard of living of the least privileged families by providing basic necessities for their immediate needs. Education is our main focus — but through our volunteers we also provide food, clothing, clean water, healthcare and moral support.

Growing up in Cameroon, it is hard to turn a blind eye to the hundreds of families who — through crisis after crisis — have lost loved ones, breadwinners, jobs, farmland and homes. Our volunteers on the ground identify the families, schools and communities that genuinely need assistance.

Transparency is our promise

Being donors ourselves, we understand every donation represents hours of sacrifice and hard work. Every project is published on this website, with updates on how funds are used — so you always know whose life you changed.
